No amount of true resets will ever clear the files that determine who is seen at the very end of the true pacifist ending.īoth Flowey and Chara push the player/Frisk to pursue the pacifist route because they each get something out of it. It is significant that the pacifist route is the only route that changes after a genocide route. “We’ll be together forever, won’t we?” This quote alludes to the surprise ending of the soulless pacifist route, when it is implied that all of Frisk’s friends are killed by Chara. The reason for this request is subtly foreshadowed if the player selects “ERASE”.

However, the important lines proceed Chara’s “perverted sentimentality” comments. Chara only says the following when the player selects “DO NOT” when presented with the choice of destroying the world. Flowey manipulates Frisk to reach this end, so that he can acquire all the souls and obtain his true form. If the player follows Flowey’s guidance, they will trigger the true pacifist ending. If Frisk completes a neutral pacifist route but doesn’t meet all the requirements for the true pacifist ending, Flowey will give hints at to how to acquire the happy ending. There are two characters in particular that require Frisk/the player to complete the pacifist route so they can fulfill their own objectives: Flowey and Chara.
